STEPS TO PREVENT A FALL: Here are 6 helpful tips to avoid falling which is a frequent incident amongst older adults and with the change in weather, more caution is a good thing:
1. Find a good balance exercise program (come to our osteo class and tai chi)
2. Talk to your helth care provider and ask for  "risk assessment" to see if you might be a
           strong candidate for falling
3.  Review your medications with your health care provider to make sure side effect don't
include dizziness, falling asleep  at odd times, interaction with other medications, etc.
4.  Get your vision and hearing checked regularly (we have a fee clinic each month for
           (hearing Tests!)
5.  Keep your home safe from barriers that may increase falling i.e. clutter, scatter rug, too
much furniture. Keep pathways clear for easy access.
6.  Be aware! Don't take chances going out in bad weather and if you are supposed to use                a cane or wlker, thjer is a reason. Stay safe!
IRS SCAM ALERT: If you get a phone call stating that they are from the IRS and you must send a check for taxea you owe...... this is a SCAM . If they begin to bully you, hang up. If you get ane-mail, please note the IRS does NOT contact people by e-mail. If you need further assistance ask for help from the Council on Aging, Elder Services  or Western Mass Legal Services. They can follow up and get to the root of why your are being targeted.
